More Than a Restaurant

Some ideas begin not as plans, but as cravings.

For Mahabelly, the journey began with the longing every Malayali away from home understands: for appam and stew, fish curry and red rice, the crackle of curry leaves in coconut oil, and food that can carry you home in a single bite.

Founded in Delhi in 2015 by childhood friends Zachariah Jacob, Thomas Fenn and Dr Prem Kiran, Mahabelly grew from a college-day dream into a larger purpose: to give Kerala’s cuisine and culture the stage they deserve.

For Malayalis, a taste of home. For everyone else, a warm invitation in, one honest, generous meal at a time.

Many Keralas. One Table.

There is no single Kerala cuisine.

Kerala food can be appam and stew on a quiet morning, puttu and kadala for breakfast, fish curry with red rice for lunch, beef roast and porotta at a toddy shop, Malabar biryani at a celebration, or a colourful Sadhya served on a banana leaf.

There are communities, coastlines, faiths, seasons and family traditions. Mahabelly brings these worlds together at one table.

Kerala Meets the Gulf

Mahabelly Canteen

Almost every Malayali family has a Gulf story, and that connection has transformed the way Kerala eats.

The Canteen is our younger, more casual format. Alongside comforting Kerala Meals and familiar favourites, it celebrates Kerala’s own versions of Al Faham, Shawaya and Shawarma, dishes that travelled from the Middle East and found a distinct second home in Kerala.

Everyday Kerala. Served without ceremony, but never without soul.

A Feast That Brings Everyone Together

The Onam Sadhya

For Mahabelly, the Onam Sadhya is more than a festive meal. It is one of the most beautiful expressions of Kerala’s culture: generous, colourful, emotional and deeply rooted in community.

Over the years, Mahabelly has become one of Delhi NCR’s recognised homes for the Sadhya. For Malayalis, it is a reminder of home. For many others, it is their first introduction to the extraordinary depth of Kerala’s vegetarian cuisine.
